Jason Brett is a creative entrepreneur whose career spans theater, film, television and technology. He founded Chicago’s famed Apollo Theater, home to Chicago’s longest running hit musical, “Million Dollar Quartet” and has produced dozens of theatrical productions featuring John Malkovich, Julia Louis Dreyfus, Jim Belushi, Laurie Metcalfe, Gary Sinise, Jeff Perry, Joan Allen, William H. Macy, Megan Mullalley and William Peterson. He has created and written dozens of television series and produced the classic film comedy, “About Last Night”. As an entertainment executive, Jason launched the scripted series division of Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Television, and headed up the film and television division of America’s legendary comedy theater, The Second City. Moving into technology, Jason founded MashPlant, a multimedia sharing platform that builds community around learning, which is currently used in hundreds of classrooms, worldwide. Jason holds a BFA in Theater from the University of Illinois, is an avid pilot and a lifelong musician. He is married to physician and author, Dr. Lauren Streicher.
Jesse is the President of MashPlant, having formerly served as the Director of Education. In his capacity as President, Jesse is the chief evangelist for MashPlant's mission, bringing years of experience as an educator and professional performing artist to help shape 21st century learning. Since joining the MashPlant team in 2011, he has overseen the day-to-day management operations of the company including all aspects of technology and software development, content creation, client relations, technical support and all educational initiatives. It is his firm belief that today’s students need a safe, moderated, curated, and custom-designed digital space where they can “show what they know” in an environment free from the various pitfalls of other social media platforms and learning management systems.
With an interest in technology from an early age, Jonathan was building websites and databases for local businesses by the age of 14. After pursuing intensive studies in religion, philosophy and education at college in Chicago and abroad, he launched a career focused on utilizing the latest technologies to drive business growth. With his unique combination of technology and business acumen, Jonathan has successfully managed strategic software projects for clients ranging from ground-level startups to Fortune 500’s.
Creative Director / Producer
With a diverse background in music, film and graphic design, he brings a high-level artistic sensibility to MashPlant's wide range of educational content. Since joining the MashPlant team in 2010, he has produced and co-produced dozens of entertainment arts-related videos in the MashPlant resource library, directed and produced "Let's Collaborate" trailer for MashPlant Studio, produced a collaborative filmmaking presentation before hundreds of kids at the Lincoln Park Apple Store in Chicago about shooting and editing with a green screen and iMovie, co-produced the music for "Make Your Mark" – a flashmob for literacy event at Chicago Tribune's Printer's Row Lit Fest, designed MashPlant's logo, email marketing materials, and has written and curated numerous blogs about the creative process used in music composition. Geoff holds a BM in Film Scoring Magna Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music, is a retro 80s & 90s enthusiast and a natural born educator.
